What Is Invisalign

Invisalign are clear braces that are custom made to your teeth to gradually straighten teeth without the discomfort associated with metal braces. They fit over your teeth and work to gently align them while remaining invisible to anyone who doesn’t know you have them. They are easier to use than traditional braces and can be removed for eating, as long as they are worn for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. Your dental provider determines the order in which the teeth are straightened, and the trays are periodically replaced to allow gradual correction.

Benefits of Invisalign

There are many benefits to straightening the teeth using Invisalign. The Invisalign Clear BracesInvisalign can be used as a teen or as an adult, and because it isn’t noticeable, it makes it easy to have a normal day to day routine such as going to work or school. It can also be removed, so you are able to take better care of your teeth, because it is possible to properly floss by removing the trays, which isn’t possible with traditional braces. It is a very precise way to align teeth, as we are able to map out the best route to straightness for your individual mouth.

How Do I Get Started With Invisalign

Make an appointment with us and we can provide an initial consultation that will help determine if Invisalign is right for you. After the consult, we are able to map out a timeline for your treatment, which will on average last over the course of a year. At that point, your first set of trays will be created by Invisalign based on your own bite impression. Once they’re created, you’ll receive a little extra instruction and before you know it, you’ll be on your way to a beautiful smile and the confidence that comes along with it.

How Does Invisalign Work

You are given a set of aligners that are used one after the other to gradually straighten teeth. The Invisalign trays are made of a thermoplastic that is strong enough to apply enough force to the teeth that will align them. Every two weeks or so, a new tray will replace the old one that will continue the alignment in the way that was initially mapped out during the consultation. As each new set of trays applies enough force to move the teeth, over the course of a year they are gradually straightened to the smile of your dreams.

How Often Must I See My Invisalign Provider Once I Have Started The Treatment

After you begin treatment with your Invisalign trays, your dental provider will schedule appointments to monitor the progress of the treatment over the course of the year. To ensure that all is progressing properly, it is important to visit your Invisalign provider approximately every 4 to 6 weeks. At that point they will assess your oral health and make sure your teeth are moving in the manner that they were planned. If need be, adjustments will be made along the way. If additional visits are necessary, they will be scheduled during your appointment.

Can Invisalign Close Gaps

Invisalign is a great solution for closing gaps between the teeth. Depending on the severity of the gap, it can take a different amount of time to correct. It can be a quick and effective way to close a gap, without disrupting your regular lifestyle. If you think that you may have a gap that Invisalign can help repair, schedule a consult and we will take a look to help come up with the treatment that will work best for you. Before you know it, you’ll be flashing that smile because your gap will be a thing of the past.

What Can I Eat With Invisalign

Before eating, you must remove your Invisalign tray. From there, you can have a relatively normal diet, as long as you avoid anything that could potentially push your teeth out of position and throw off your course of treatment. You may think that chewing gum or eating soft foods without removing the trays shouldn’t damage them, but it is advised to always remove trays before eating. Be advised that the trays can gather debris, so if you drink with them in your mouth, be sure to brush and rinse regularly. Hot beverages should be avoided so as to not distort the trays.
